Hamsa from the heart

This is an older piece from a few years ago. Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many times throughout history, this Hamsa ice dye was done with earthy tones resting on a crest of rainbows. A loved one was visiting the family and we had made this piece together to bring in the new year. It has been waiting for the right home to go to.
This shirt was dyed using an ice dye technique and close up shots show the intricacies in the dye splits and runs exclusive to this process. It's the melting of the ice cubes on pigment which gives this unique watercolour effect.

All Tie Dyes are made using 100% cotton and Procion MX dyes. everything is set for 24 hours (some are assisted with heat as i live in a cooler climate than some dyers) before being hand washed and heat soaked to assure little to no future colour bleed. For best colour last, as with most companies, we suggest washing on cold with like colours, hang to dry when possible. And if you are busy like me than you may like to hear that personally i have washed hot, mix my laundry and to date, have had no issues.
