About Us
Ever wonder why we call it Tiny Handz Tye-dyez?
In early 2012 my kids and i used to go over to my friend, Ian's. I was going through a lot of hard stuff at the time, just getting out of one of the darkest points in my life, and it started off as a fun hobby thing that the kids and i could do once in a while to get us out of the house. We could bring some used shirts, go have a dye session and an afternoon in the sun.
Right when we got into it my friend had to move across country but we didn't want to stop. The kids had an amazing freedom with colour as we fell in love with this art form. Some of our earliest pieces garnered warm reactions from the online tie dye community which gave me an idea.I decided to see if we could keep doing it as a self sustained hobby. I took a risk and invested what little money i had into some supplies and luckily with my fast learning curve and the kids fearless colour play it paid off! our first couple years I would tie as the kids did most of our dye work and that is how the name came about... Tiny Handz, inspired by the tiny hands that helped make and design some our creations. With added help from friends and family we push to challenge ourselves with continued learning and growth as we create new patterns to push our bounds. We are Tiny Handz Tye-Dyez, where we live and dye as a family!
Ever Evolving...
It doesn't stop here as we are always adding new items from our line of handmade jewelry and accessories from the same creators that already produce all the dyes seen in our shop.
Over the years I have added wire wraps, polymer clay, crochet, and hand sewn accessories to the list of Wearable Art that we work with. I have also started learning local geology as a way to harvest my own ethically sourced stones, let the journey continue!
Rainbows for the soul...
Recently for added fun, as I truly feel the colours are healing, I have added crystal therapy to our dyes. In early fall and winter of 2015/2016 I had started using raw quartz points as tumblers to help agitate the dye because I thought they were more fun than marbles. since 2017 I took it a little further. Adding to the love of art and spirituality combined I have selected various colour and chakra themed stones to add to the mix for added umph.
